Garlic & Herb Meatball Sub

Garlic & Herb Meatball Sub

This isn’t just a meatball sub — it’s a flavour-packed feast. Juicy beef meatballs, rich tomato sauce, and melted Garlic & Herb Fetta Juli-Etta all nestled into a crusty artisan baguette. Toasted to perfection, it’s your new go-to lunch (or dinner) hero.

Ingredients:

  • Fresh bakery baguette (or crusty bread roll)
  • Beef mince (500g)
  • 1 egg
  • Breadcrumbs (½ cup)
  • Mixed dried herbs (e.g. oregano, basil, parsley)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Garlic (1–2 cloves, crushed)
  • Passata or tomato-based pasta sauce (1 jar)
  • Feta Juli-Etta Garlic & Herb fetta (crumbled generously)
  • Lettuce or basil leaves (optional, for freshness)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Meatballs:
In a large bowl, combine beef mince, egg, breadcrumbs, herbs, crushed garlic, and salt & pepper. Roll into small meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs:
Heat olive oil in a pan and brown meatballs on all sides. Pour in tomato sauce and let simmer for 10–15 minutes until cooked through and flavoursome.
  3. Assemble the Sub:
Slice your baguette and layer with fresh lettuce or basil (optional). Spoon in the saucy meatballs and generously crumble over Garlic & Herb Fetta Juli-Etta.
  4. Toast to Melt & Crisp:
Place the filled sub in an oven or air fryer at 180°C for 5–8 minutes until the bread is golden and the fetta just begins to melt into creamy pockets of flavour.
  5. Serve & Enjoy:
Slice in half and serve hot. Perfect with a side salad — or just as it is!
